5) The American Revolution and the American Civil War

The American Revolution and the American Civil War, which both took place between the late 1700's and mid 1800's, were both similar and different in various ways. The American Revolution and the Civil War were different because the American Revolution was fought against Britain and the Civil War was fought between the Northern and Southern United States. They were also similar because both wars were because of denied rights.

The American Revolution and the Civil War were very similar.  Both the American Revolution and the Civil War were fought right here in the United States.  This is important because it gave the soldiers an advantage over their enemy.  Another similarity that both Wars had was that they were both fought for the rights of citizens.  The American Revolution was fought because people's freedom was limited  and the American Civil War was fought because of the use of slaves in the south.   This was important because we were a democracy.

These wars were also very different.  The American revolution was fought for social rights and The American Civil War was fought for economic rights.  The American Revolution was fought because Parliament taxed many of their goods which made the colonists feel they had limited freedom.  The Civil War was fought because of the economic differences between the North and the South.  The North was more industrialized and the South had plantation farms which had increased their need for slaves.   In the American Revolution the colonists took actions such as boycotts like the Boston Tea Party.  In the American Civil War the north wanted to put tariff's on the south's imports, but the south didn't want to have to pay a taxes on imports.

The American Revolution and the Civil War were similar in many ways as well.  The American Revolution was fought for peoples freedoms and rights as well as one of the reasons the civil war was fought was because of slavery.  Slavery was when people were denied the right to be a free person.  This similarity was important because we were a democracy and we have the right to change a bad government.  These wars were also similar because they were fought in the United states.  This similarity was important because it gave our troops an advantage over their enemy.

Therefore, the American Revolution and the American Civil War has similarities and differences.  Some similarities between the two are that the two wars were fought right here in the U.S and both wars were fought for the rights of our citizens rights.  The major differences between the two are that the American Revolution was fought against Britain and the American Civil War was fought against ourselves.
